  • Job Title: Management Accountant
  • Function: Finance
  • Reports to: Finance Manager/General Manager/Managing Director

Job Purpose:

Maintain and develop the company management information and costing systems in order to aid the decision making process.

Scope:

Financial

  • Small £5 million
  • Medium £5 to £25 million
  • Large £25 million and over

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely local management information, highlighting variances and trends appropriately, so that management can take effective action to improve performance
  • Ensure that stock valuations are accurate, reflecting current costs and conformance with Group accounting standards
  • Ensure that estimating standards and cost rates are realistic/accurate to assist product pricing decision making
  • Plan and control the day to day activities of the department to ensure information provided is accurate, punctual and consistent in its presentation
  • Collate and prepare the information required for the company budget process
  • Conduct checks and audit of local controls to ensure there is sufficient rigor and consistency

Qualifications:

Educational and professional

  • Graduate calibre
  • Newly qualified or experienced part qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA equivalent)

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a commercial/manufacturing environment
  • Thorough understanding of sophisticated costing system
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Computer literate with PC modelling skills
  • Exposure to PLC type reporting environments
  • Appreciation of key aspects of internal controls
  • Numerical/verbal reasoning skills
