• Job Title: Senior Packaging Technologist
• Function: Technology
• Reports to: Packaging Development Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide packaging technical support to implement packaging development in line with overall business strategy to ensure the timely delivery of cost effective packaging that meets both customer and regulatory requirements.

Scope:

• Turnover: £10 - £100m

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead projects to develop packaging structural solutions across a range of products
• Commission check and obtain approval for packaging artwork. Ensure all technical and marketing issues are resolved and artwork budgets are monitored.
• Organise and oversee production trials to ensure the suitability of finished goods
• Carry out appropriate stability testing to ensure functionality and durability of packaging
• Prepare packaging specifications, bills of materials and packaging instructions.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of technical developments and trends in packaging
• Maintain up to date knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements pertaining to packaging of the company’s products

Qualifications:

Educational and professional:

• Graduate calibre (preferably science based)
• Diploma Membership of the Institute of Packaging

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

• 5 - 7 years knowledge and experience of the packaging industry including materials, manufacturing and printing
• Supply chain knowledge
• Presentation/communication skills
• Computer skills
